Montezuma received from his subjects grain (corn and beans), obsidian, cotton and fabrics, as well as exotic goods – colored stones and metals (jade, turquoise, gold), bird feathers, cocoa beans, peppers – all of this was used for the needs of the court and awards fighters. Finally, live birds and snakes arrived – for the royal zoo.
