| What types of electron emission underlie the operation of photoelectric radiation detectors – photoelectric cells and photomultiplier tubes?
The FE operation is based on the phenomenon of external photoelectric effect. In a photomultiplier, in addition to this phenomenon, there is a phenomenon of secondary electron emission – the knocking out of electrons from the surface of metal diodes by a stream of electrons, as a result of which there is a kind of multiplication of photoelectrons.
