| Informational, pli-matrix, RNA (mRNA, mRNA) transfers information on the primary structure of a protein from DNA to ribosomes.
Transport RNA (tRNA) is the shortest molecule, consisting of 70-80 nucleotides. They transport amino acids to the site of protein synthesis – to the ribosomes.
Ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) build the body of the ribosome. They make up more than 80% of the total mass of RNA in the cell. RRNAs are synthesized in the regions of DNA chromosomes located in the nucleolar center of the nucleus. They bind to proteins and build the body of the ribosome.
