What were the reasons for the 1848 revolution in France? How did they differ from the causes of the July Revolution of 1830? What were their similarities?
Charles X was opposed to any liberalization of the regime in the country and formed a government headed by the ultra-royalist Jules Polignac. Polignac was completely incompetent and only got into the position because he was the son of a friend of Marie Antoinette. Polignac was the embodiment of France of the old regime: favoritism and huge spending of money. Moderate royalists, who wanted to save the royal family, felt it necessary to change the ruling family and proposed Louis Philippe instead of Charles X.
The results of the elections in June-July 1830, won by the opposition, were canceled. Moreover, amendments to the laws were passed that would benefit the current king.
As a result, Charles X was deposed, and Louis-Philippe ascended the throne.
