| When decoding the tomato genome, it was found that the proportion of thymine in a fragment of the DNA molecule is 20%. Using Chargaff’s rule describing the quantitative ratios between different types of nitrogenous bases in DNA (G + T = A + C), calculate the amount (in%) in this sample of nucleotides with cytosine.
According to Chargaff’s rule: C = 30%.
If the proportion of thymine is 20%, then the proportion of guanine is also 20%, therefore the proportion of cytosine = (100-40) / 2 = 30
