The Treaty on the Limitation of Anti-Ballistic Missile Systems between the USA and the USSR was signed on May 26, 1972, with a subsequent prolongation. According to this agreement, the parties were obliged to abandon the creation and testing of anti-ballistic missile defense systems of sea, air, space, land-based to combat ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons.
