Where does the oxygen released during photosynthesis come from?

Oxygen, which is released during photosynthesis into the atmosphere, is formed as a result of photolysis. This is the process of decomposition of water under the action of the energy of sunlight.
Photosynthesis is divided into two stages: light and dark. During the light stage, photolysis occurs – this is the process of decomposition of water molecules under the influence of light energy, the oxygen formed as a result of photolysis is released into the atmosphere.
