Which lens is called thin?

A lens is considered thin if its thickness is substantially less than the radii of the spherical surfaces of the lens and the distance from the object to the lens. In a thin lens, you can not consider the path of the rays, but knowing the distance from the object to the lens and the focal length, determine the position of the image.
