Jupiter is the only planet in the solar system that was known to have a magnetosphere even before spacecraft flights. Analysis of the nonthermal radiation of Jupiter, detected by the radio astronomy method in 1955, showed that it is the synchrotron radiation of relativistic electrons moving along spiral trajectories along the lines of force.
