Who are the warriors of Montezuma more reminiscent of: the hoplites of Sparta, the Roman militias of the early Republic, the legionnaires of Maria or the soldiers of Trajan? What are the similarities?

Almost all Aztec warriors were militias (as in the cities of Sumer and in early Rome). Only the guardsmen from the tsarist regiments were professionals: warriors – “eagles”, warriors – “jaguars”. They most of all resembled medieval knights.
