The main patterns of inheritance of characters were first described in the second half of the XIX century. Austrian scholar Gregor Mendel (1822–1884). Mendel was not the first scientist to try to answer the question: how are properties and attributes transmitted from generation to generation? Many researchers before him crossed various organisms, trying to see some kind of system in the results. In an effort to succeed as quickly as possible, the researchers crossed different species, while obtaining infertile offspring, took for the study complex, difficult to determine traits, did not make accurate mathematical calculations.
