A fast-neutron nuclear reactor can simultaneously serve as a power plant and a nuclear fuel breeder reactor, which ultimately makes it possible to use not only the rare isotope of uranium-235, but also the isotope of uranium-238, which is 140 times larger in nature, for energy production.
