Why did all English immigrants during the revolution strive to the Netherlands? Weren’t the royalists and the Puritans at odds with each other there?
The Royalists emigrated to the Southern Netherlands – Belgium, which was under the rule of monarchical Spain, the Republicans hid in the Northern Netherlands – in the Protestant Dutch Republic.
