| Zeus overthrew Cronus and sent the Titans to Tartarus. Zeus ruled over lightning and thunder, rains and storms. The laws by which people live were given to them by Zeus. The Greeks portrayed Zeus as an almighty ruler. He sat on a throne with a scepter in one hand and the goddess of victory Nika in the other. An eagle sat next to the throne, which was considered the king of birds.
