Why did the Reformation have complete success in Scandinavia, but no success in Spain, Italy, Poland?

The peoples of Spain and Poland felt themselves to be border guards of their Catholic civilization – at the junction with the Islamic and Orthodox world. This did not encourage them to be isolated from the center. On the contrary, Italians felt themselves to be the leaders of Europe during the Renaissance and did not want to lose this role, separating themselves from Rome. Other peoples of Europe realized their specialness from the development of the Roman Church and sought to religiously formalize it.
