Why does a computer need RAM if it has long-term memory? Why can’t we do just long-term memory?

RAM is a small high-speed storage device designed for writing, reading and storing programs and processed data. RAM can only store information while the computer is running, and completely loses its contents when the power is turned off.
Remember: The process of learning a person lasts a lifetime. The value of the same knowledge for different people may be different, it is determined by their individual characteristics and needs. Therefore, knowledge is always needed at any age and position.
