| Why does energy transfer in the interiors of red dwarfs occur mainly by convection, and in stars in the upper part of the main sequence – by radiation?
In red dwarfs, due to the low luminosity, there is a large opacity of matter. In this case, convection is most efficient. The stars of the upper part of the main sequence have transparent interiors due to the high temperature, in which energy transfer occurs by means of radiation.
