Why does the 6-meter telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory have an altazimuth setting, and not equatorial, like most large telescopes?
The altazimuth setup does not change the position of the center of mass at different telescope positions. This significantly reduces the requirements for the strength of structural parts.
