Why even a short (5-10 years) civil war in ancient and medieval China led to a decrease in population by 2-3 times, while this did not happen in the Mediterranean?
Famine and epidemics are the main factors that reduce the population in a homogeneous agricultural society. They inevitably break out in any civil war – so often in China. In the Mediterranean, there were many different modes of economy in different climates – there drought or strife could not affect the entire region.
Remember: The process of learning a person lasts a lifetime. The value of the same knowledge for different people may be different, it is determined by their individual characteristics and needs. Therefore, knowledge is always needed at any age and position.
