Why have some Arab states made great economic gains while maintaining many of the medieval orders?

| Because these Arab states (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Oman, etc.) had the richest reserves of oil, which were exported. The sale of oil resources ensured a high standard of living for the population, the majority of whom were peasants and nomads. Reforms were not necessary Arab states did not need economic improvements.
