| Why in August in the coniferous forest under the trees you can see a lot of fallen needles, but in the deciduous forest of last year’s fallen leaves almost none? How does this affect soil fertility?
1) Needles contain many resinous substances that make their decomposition by microorganisms difficult.
2) In addition, in the coniferous forest in conditions of shade, the temperature is lower and the decomposition rate is low.
3) Due to the slow decomposition and leaching of organic substances, the soil in the coniferous forest contains little humus.
