| Differences in agricultural specialization are due to soil and climate characteristics.
For the most part, in Ukraine, the main soil type is chernozem with a high humus content, which is favorable for growing different crops. Also in Ukraine, a significant part of the territory is steppes with an arid climate, on which there are few natural feeds for animal husbandry.
In Belarus, sod-podzolic type soils prevail, which yield relatively low yields, but more than in Ukraine, well-moistened steppes with the presence of feed for grazing.
