Why is biogeocenosis and the biosphere called an ecosystem?

Ecosystem is a biological system consisting of a community of living organisms (biocenosis), their environment (biotope), a system of bonds that exchanges matter and energy between them. The biosphere is an ecosystem of the largest scale. Biogeocenosis is also an ecosystem that stands out on a homogeneous land area.
