Why is it harder to lift a sunken ship from a muddy bottom than a ship like it from a rocky bottom?

The water does not leak down the ship lying on the muddy bottom, therefore, at the beginning of the ascent, until the ship is lifted off the bottom, the water pressure underneath decreases. This leads to a decrease in the strength of Archimedes.
