Why was the Ottoman state more durable than the Arab Caliphate and Timur’s state?

| The strength of the Ottoman sultans’ regime lies in the fact that they took the “vacant” place of military rulers in the established social structure of the Middle East states, and left other places to their former “owners”: Armenians – trade, Greeks – service and crafts, Bulgarians – agriculture.
