Why weren’t the crusaders able to hold onto what their predecessors mined in 1099 in the 1180s?

| After 1150, the fragmented possessions of the Seljuk Turks were replaced by the powers of the new Islamic peoples. Egypt especially strengthened – there the Kurd Salah ad-din founded a military monarchy with a guard of foreign Mamluks. And among the crusaders there were feudal strife, new fighters from Europe came in small numbers.
