Why weren’t the crusaders able to hold onto what their predecessors mined in 1099 in the 1180s?

After 1150, the fragmented possessions of the Seljuk Turks were replaced by the powers of the new Islamic peoples. Egypt especially strengthened – there the Kurd Salah ad-din founded a military monarchy with a guard of foreign Mamluks. And among the crusaders there were feudal strife, new fighters from Europe came in small numbers.
