| According to the law of conservation of energy, the potential energy of the icicle hanging on the roof is converted into kinetic energy at the moment it hits the ground. Therefore, it is enough to determine the potential energy of the icicle: E = mgh = 0.25kg * 196 km / h / 2 = 25
Translating 250 g = 0.25 kg into the SI system and substituting the numerical values into the formula, we get E = 25 J.
