Describe the biological nature of gametogenesis.

Gametogenesis is the process of the formation of germ cells: 4 haploid cells are formed from one diploid cell. Sex cells must have a haploid set, so that with subsequent sexual reproduction of the body, its descendants maintain a constant set of chromosomes (genotype).
