When a glass rod is rubbed on silk, it is charged positively, while silk is negatively charged. This is due to the fact that during friction, the electrons from the stick transfer to silk, i.e., from the substance in which the forces of attraction to the nucleus of the atom are less, to the substance in which these forces are greater, as a result there will be a lack of electrons in the glass rod, and in silk – excess.
