How to determine the radius of the earth’s orbit based on observations?

There are several methods. The most obvious method – direct measurement of the solar horizontal parallax – is not used due to its very low accuracy. Usually, the horizontal parallax of the Sun is determined on the basis of observations of the upper planet, for example Mars, as well as the radial velocities of stars.
