How to send a body to Earth from a spacecraft moving in a circular orbit?

This can be done in three ways:
1) throw the body back in orbit, that is, thereby reduce its speed and transfer it to an elliptical orbit lying inside a circular one;
2) the body must be thrown down, this will also lead it into an internal elliptical orbit;
3) a combination of the first and second methods.
