| Sulfur oxide (IV) was passed through a hydrogen sulfide solution. The resulting precipitate was treated with hot concentrated nitric acid. The released brown gas was passed through a solution of barium hydroxide. When one of the formed salts interacted with an aqueous solution of potassium permanganate, a brown precipitate was formed. Write the equations for the four reactions described.
2H2S + SO2 = 3S↓ + 2H2O
S + 6HNO3 -> H2SO4 + 6NO2↑ + 2H2O
4NO2 + 2Ba(OH)2 = Ba(NO2)2 + Ba(NO3)2 + 2H2O
3Ba(NO2)2 + 4KMnO4 + 2H2O = 3Ba(NO3)2 + 4MnO2↓ + 4KOH
