| Sparrows feed mainly on plant food and only partially on insects in spring. In human settlements, he picks up seeds of agricultural crops, waste of various products. He also visits the nearest fields and orchards, eating cereals here, pecking berries of cherries, currants, grapes, and flower buds in spring. Where there are no fields nearby, it flies out to feed on meadows, forest edges and in the steppe, where it collects insects and seeds of wild herbs. If there is not enough food, sparrows can start a fight.
