What are the reasons for the diversity of ethnic composition of the population of countries located on the islands of the Caribbean?

Due to the fact that since the discovery and further colonization, the islands were inhabited by immigrants from Europe, the blood of several ethnic groups merged here. The local population – the descendants of the Indians and the ancient Civilizations of South America, were forced to share the island with European colonialists and slave traders.
Subsequently, trade routes from the Old World to America began to be laid through this region, and the Europeans decided to bring African slaves here and create slave markets on the islands for the further sale of labor to the mainland.
