What is ice on Mars?

At one of the Martian poles, an area was found covered mainly with solid carbon dioxide with a small admixture of ordinary ice. The entire polar cap predominantly consists of the so-called gas hydrate (compound CO26H2). The edges of the polar cap are likely composed of ordinary ice.
