What is the biological meaning of the uneven division of the cytoplasm and the death of one of the daughter cells at each stage of meiosis during the formation of an egg?

During ovogenesis, 4 haploid cells are formed from one diploid cell. But the entire supply of nutrients is received only by one (egg), and the remaining 3 roles do not play and die off (these are polar, or directing bodies).
The egg needs a supply of nutrients, as it is from it that the embryo develops after fertilization. Polar bodies only serve to remove excess genetic material.
