What is the nature of the solar magnetic field?

The sun has a complex magnetic field. In polar regions up to latitudes +/- 55, the magnetic lines of force are directed along the meridians, but in the equatorial regions, the lines of force are directed along its parallels. The reason for this nature of the magnetic field is the differential rotation of the Sun.
