| Neutron stars are mostly composed of densely packed neutrons. In this state, a neutron star can be viewed as a giant atomic nucleus. The radius of such stars is about 10 km. Under certain conditions, a neutron star can be observed from Earth as a pulsar. A cosmic body cannot consist of protons alone, since then gigantic repulsive forces will arise between them and the body will collapse.
