What stars are called supernovae? What do you know about them?

| A supernova is a real explosion of a star, when most of its mass (or even all) is thrown off at a speed of up to 10 thousand km / s into space, and the remaining central part turns into a superdense neutron star or even into a black hole. Supernovae play a very important role in evolution of stars, being the “final” of the life of stars with masses of more than 8-10 solar masses. They give birth to neutron stars and black holes and enrich the interstellar medium with heavy chemical elements.
