When and why did the “Vietnam syndrome” arise?

“Vietnamese Syndrome” is associated with the events of an internecine war that began in 1957 and lasted 18 years. It involved many states, including the United States, which hoped to ultimately split the country. The syndrome consisted in the fact that people were tired of constant war, then they got used to living in this state, then they turned into almost a death machine, into killers.
