| Why is it more profitable from the point of view of fuel costs to launch an artificial Earth satellite (AES) with a direction of rotation around the Earth from west to east?
The earth rotates on its axis in the direction from west to east. When the satellite is launched in this direction, the axial rotation speed will be added to the speed imparted to the satellite by the rocket. When launched in the opposite direction, this speed will be subtracted, and additional energy will be required in order for the satellite to reach the required speed.
